Great Britain players completed the Inas Global Games with one gold medal, two silver medals and a bronze medal after extremely close singles and doubles finals on the last day of competition.
After finishing unbeaten in five ties earlier in the week, the Great Britain A team of Fabrice Higgins and Dominic Iannotti were confirmed as gold medallists in the men’s team event ahead of the Australia A and Czech Republic A teams, while the Great Britain B team of Thomas Mellor and Peter Millar finished in fourth place.
The last day of competition saw two-time world championship gold medallist Higgins win the men’s singles silver medal as Australia’s Archie Graham claimed the gold with a narrow 7-6(5), 4-6, (10-8) win after a deciding match tiebreak.
Iannotti finished fourth in the men’s singles on his international debut at an Inas championships after the Czech Republic’s Ondrej Sedlisky won their bronze medal play-off 6-2.
There was another silver medal in the men’s doubles after Higgins and Thomas Mellor were edged out in the final by the Australian duo of Graham and Mitchell James 6-7(5), 7-5, (10-4) after another deciding match tie-break.
Iannotti and Millar made it two men’s doubles medals for Great Britain after a 6-2 victory over Sedlisky and Jakub Jerhot 6-2 in the bronze medal play-off.
Meanwhile, Shain Lewis completed his tournament on a winning note to finish 11th in the men’s singles after beating Aurelian Wagner of Australia 6-3.

Fabrice Higgins and Thomas Mellor will bid to add Inas Global Games gold medals to their world championships singles and doubles gold medals going into the final day of play in Ecuador, while Dominic Iannotti will play for the bronze medal in the men’s singles and partner Peter Millar in the bronze medal play-off in the men’s doubles.
Double world champion Higgins beat Ondrej Sedlisky of the Czech Republic 6-2 in his men’s singles semi-final. Higgins will play Australia’s Archie Graham in a best of three sets match in the final after Graham beat Britain’s Dominic Iannotti 6-2 in the other semi-final. Iannotti, who is making his international debut at an Inas event, plays Sedlisky in the bronze medal play-off.
Mellor finished sixth and Millar finished seventh in the men’s singles. Mellor beat Millar 6-3 in the first of their play-off matches after the quarter-finals, but slipped to a 6-3 loss to Mitchell James of Australia in the fifth place play-off. There was better news for Millar in the seventh place play-off as he earned a 6-1 win over David Burke of Australia.
Shain Lewis will play Aurelian Wagner of France in the 11th place play-off in the men’s singles after a narrow 6-4 loss to Zvi Schweitzer of Australia in their consolation singles semi-final.
World champions Higgins and Mellor earned a 6-2 win over Iannotti and Millar in their all-British men’s doubles semi-finals and go on to play the Australia partnership of Graham and James in the final. Iannotti and Millar face the Czech Republic’s Sedlisky and Jakub Jerhot in the bronze medal play-off.

Great Britain has players in both men’s singles semi-finals and is guaranteed to have a partnership in the men’s doubles final going into Friday’s fifth day of play in Ecuador.
Dominic Iannotti beat fellow Brit Peter Millar 6-2 and double men’s singles world champion Fabrice Higgins beat David Burke of Australia 6-0 as the singles round-robin matches came to an end, although two-time men’s singles world championship silver medallist Thomas Mellor slipped to a 6-4 loss to Australia’s Archie Graham.
With four Brits in the quarter-finals, Higgins subsequently beat Millar 6-1 to advance to the semi-finals, with Dominic Iannotti defeating Australia’s Burke 6-0. However, Mellor lost out to the Czech Republic’s Ondrej Sedlisky 6-1.
Higgins will play Sedlisky for a place in the men’s singles final, while Iannotti will face Graham as hopes of an all-British singles final remain.
Mixed fortunes for Shain Lewis against Czech Republic players saw him lose out 6-0 to Sedlisky, in his last round-robin match, but Lewis bounced back to beat Jakub Jerhot 6-0 in the consolation singles and he will now play Australia’s Zvi Schweitzer in the consolation semi-finals.
The round-robin phase of the men’s doubles saw reigning world champions Higgins and Mellor beat the Czech Republic partnership of Jiri Humbal and Josef Hus 6-0 before defeating Australians Graham and Mitchell James 6-3.
Iannotti and Peter Millar also beat Jerhot and Sedlisky 6-4, but after coming close to another win the Brits were edged out 7-6(7) by Australia’s Burke and Zvi Schweitzer.
Higgin and Mellor now take on Iannotti and Millar to decide which all-British partnership will go through to the men’s doubles final.

The Great Britain A team completed the men’s team event unbeaten on the second day of competition at the Inas Global Games, while Dawn Taylor, Fabrice Higgins, Dominic Iannotti, Thomas Mellor and Peter Millar all made winning starts in their women’s and men’s singles round-robin group matches.
Higgins and Iannotti beat the Australia A team of Archie Graham and Mitchell James 2-0 and the Czech Republic B team Jiri Humhal and Jakubiak Jerhot 2-0 as Great Britain A completed the men’s team event unbeaten, having secured three wins on the opening day of play.
However, after a fine opening day it was a tougher second day for the Great Britain B team of Mellor and Millar, who lost both singles matches to the Czech A team’s Ondrej Sediisky and Josef Hus and both singles matches to the Australia A team duo of Archie Graham and Mitchell James.
Dawn Taylor made a winning debut at an Inas championships, defeating Poland’s Dorota Wisniewska 6-2 in the first of her women’s singles round-robin matches.
Meanwhile, Iannotti also made a successful start to his debut at an Inas championships, beating Josef Hus of the Czech Republic 6-3 and Zvi Schweitzer of Australia 6-2.
Millar also beat both of the Czech and Australian players, defeating Hus 7-6(4) and Schweitzer 6-1, while Mellor earned a 6-4 win over Jiri Humhal of the Czech Republic.
Shain Lewis had a tough first day and after two great efforts slipped to a 7-5 loss to both Mitchell James of Australia and Aurelian Wagner of France.
The third day of play will see more round robin singles matches and the start of the open doubles and mixed doubles events.

Great Britain’s two teams made a fine start to the men’s team event on the first day of competition at the 2015 Inas Global Games in Ecuador
All six teams in the event are playing each other in one round-robin group, with both GB teams remaining unbeaten apart from the match-up which saw them face each other on the opening day in Guayaquil.
The Great Britain A team of Fabrice Higgins and Dominic Iannotti beat Great Britain B team’s Thomas Mellor and Peter Millar 2-0 after the two singles matches.
Higgins and Iannotti also went on to beat the Australia B team of Zvi Schweitzer and David Burke 2-0 and the Czech Republic A team Ondrej Sediisky and Josef Hus 2-0 to finish the day with three wins.
Mellor and Peter Millar also beat the Czech Republic B team of Jiri Humhal and Jakub Jerhot 2-0 and Australia B team’s Schweitzer and Burke 2-0.
The team event sees players from each team play one set of singles against their equivalent number from another team. If the tie is level at 1-1 after the singles matches then the tie will be decided by a match tiebreak of doubles.
Tuesday’s second day of play sees the conclusion of the team event and the start of the individual competitions.
