Berkshire Ladies competed in Group 4B of the Aegon Winter County Cup Event at the Wirral on 22-24th November.

Top junior players Hannah Brett and Sophie Drakeford Lewis made their Winter Senior County debuts at numbers 2 and 3 in the singles line up. This helped Berkshire to field one of their strongest ever singles line ups. Combining this with the experience of their senior players, Berkshire started the weekend as strong promotion favourites.
Day1 v North of Scotland (7-2 Win)
Berkshire charged to a 5-1 lead after the singles, with only Victoria losing after a close three set battle. Hannah and Sophie made impressive debuts with convincing wins whilst Lindsay C easily beat the opposing North of Scotland number one.
Heather Bates (Captain) and Claire Powell, renewing their Summer county week partnership began their campaign with a straight sets victory and Lindsay C and Sophie paired up for the first time to win the battle of the number one pairings.
Day2 v North Wales (8-1 Win)
Berkshire fielded the same singles line up as on day 1. Lindsay Y proved to be an extremely strong number 6 player with a second 6-0 6-0 victory in 2 days! Chloe, Sophie, Hannah and Lindsay all won their singles in straight sets to again give Berkshire an unassailable 5-1 lead after the singles.
Berkshire fielded 3 junior/senior player doubles combinations and won all 3 matches convincingly to end day 2 on the verge of promotion.
Day3 v West of Scotland (8-1 Win)
Berkshire fielded the same singles line up for a third day running and this was again too strong for the opposition, as Berkshire won all of the singles. There was a notable victory for Lindsay C over a strong West of Scotland number 1 and Victoria put in an excellent performance to win at number 4.
Well done to Lindsay Y, Chloe, Hannah, Sophie and Lindsay C who were unbeaten over the weekend in singles.
Claire teamed up with Chloe at second pair doubles to win without the loss of a single game, her second 6-0 6-0 of the weekend. One other doubles win gave Berkshire another 8-1 win and promotion into Group 3, thus securing double promotion in 2013!

The Berkshire Ladies team will be back in action from 21st to 25th July 2014 in Group 2 of Aegon Summer County Week (venue still to be confirmed).
