It has been necessary to temporarily close the county clay courts at the White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre as under the current water restrictions and hosepipe ban they are unable to be watered.
Water is critical to the perfomance of clay tennis courts. Without water the surface of the courts will be eroded leaving undulations in the surface which could expose the sub-base. This could create a dangerous surface in terms of ball bounce and uneven slide and will be expensive to repair in the future.
The situation will be reviewed and we will update the website when the courts become available again.
