The Oxford Singles Tennis League has just notched up a record entry for the current round with 35 players.
Based on the city’s park and public courts, the city-wide league is part of an initiative to make it easy for players of all standards to play friendly, competitive tennis, without having to join a tennis club.
It is open to both men and women and welcomes adult players (18+) of all standards who are graded into groups. Contact details are circulated and players arrange their own matches at a mutually convenient time, so it is completely flexible. Any court that suits both players can be used, including the great newly refurbished courts in Florence Park.
The next 8-week round runs from Monday 22 July to Sunday 15 September. Entry is just £12 (£10 students) by Thursday 18 July. There are £20 prizes, and the chance to win free tennis balls.
