Aegon Schools Tennis has been shortlisted in the Education & Learning category and in the Grass Roots Sports Sponsorship category at the Hollis Awards 2013.
The Hollis Sponsorship Awards reward effectiveness and excellence across all sectors of the sponsorship industry and across all budget bands, with the winners judged by experts in their specialist fields.
Paul Williams, the Tennis Foundation’s Schools Tennis Manager said: “We are delighted the Aegon Schools Tennis programme has been shortlisted for two Hollis Sponsorship Awards 2013. To be recognised in the ‘Education & Learning’ and ‘Grassroots Sponsorship’ categories demonstrates the programme’s ability to get more pupils playing but also its ability to act as a catalyst for learning, both within and beyond the curriculum. Aegon’s support for school tennis, as part of their wider Lead Partner agreement, has been fantastic. Their continuous support has benefitted so many pupils and helped us reach over half the schools across Great Britain.”
These nominations come after Aegon Schools Tennis recently won sports coach UK's 'Coaching Intervention of the Year’ and The London Youth Games 'Community Partner of the Year', as well as being short-listed for the European Sponsorship Agency's Excellence Awards and the BESA Education Resources Awards.
The Aegon Schools Tennis programme, which is run by the Tennis Foundation in partnership with the LTA, provides training, resources and free equipment to schools nationwide to help more people play tennis at schools.
The programme aims to ensure a pupil's first experience of tennis is positive, fun and engaging – whatever their age, ability or background, creating a tennis habit for life.
The Lawn Tennis Association’s partnership with Aegon has also been shortlisted in the Sports Sponsorship category.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 26 March.
