Marc McCarroll has been presented with April’s AEGON Player of the Month Award after his achievements in Johannesburg, Florida and Pensacola.
British No.2 McCarroll clinched his first ITF 1 Series men’s singles title at the ACSA South African Open after coming from a set down to beat British No.1 Gordon Reid 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the final.
With both players in their first ITF 1 Series final, Reid edged the first set, but McCarroll won the last four games of the second set to force the decider. The first two games of the third and final set went with serve, before McCarroll edged ahead after three successive service breaks.
McCarroll eventually closed out the victory to secure his third win over Reid in eight head-to-heads on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour and his first since 2010.

McCarroll and Reid were then back on court in the men’s doubles final against Japanese second seeds Yoshinobu Fujimoto and Takashi Sanada wrapping up a 6-1, 6-4 win that give them their eighth doubles title together and their first at ITF 1 Series level.

Earlier in the month McCarroll reached the men’s consolation semi-finals at the Florida Open Super Series, but was defeated 7-6(6), 6-2 by Reid. The British No.2 also claimed the men's consolation singles title at the Pensacola Open beating Korea's Sang-Ho Oh 6-1, 6-2 in the final.
Following such a successful April, McCarroll goes into May with a new career-high ranking of world No.13 in singles as he bids to get one of four British men’s places at the London 2012 Paralympics when the qualification window ends on May 20th.
