February 2012 - Dan Evans

Dan Evans has won the AEGON Player of the Month award for February.

Dan Evans has been awarded February’s AEGON Player of the Month Award after he helped seal a 3-2 victory over the Slovak Republic for the AEGON GB Davis Cup Team at Braehead Arena.

Evans, who originally comes from Birmingham, is proud of his success; “It was a good month, with the Davis Cup and getting the win there and qualifying for Cherbourg. I want to keep playing well and doing what I’m doing.”

The 21 year-old currently holds an ATP world ranking of 277 and Head of Men’s and Women’s tennis Leon Smith, believes that Dan holds a lot more potential; “The men's rankings are not where we want them to be, for someone like Dan, he is way better than his ranking shows today.”

At the most recent Davis Cup tie against the Slovak Republic, Evans opened up proceedings by defeating world No.65 Lukas Lacko in straight sets to give Great Britain a 1-0 lead.
