Andy Murray has won the AEGON Player of the Month award for January.

Andy Murray is the current British No.1 and is ranked No.4 in the world, he has won 22 career ATP titles, and at 24, he is already the country's most successful player of the Open era.

In 2011 the Scotsman finished at No.4 in the world for a fourth straight season after capturing five titles in six final appearances.

From mid-August to the end of season, he compiled a 27-3 match record, with a second title at the ATP Masters 1000.

During 2011, Andy played two Davis Cup ties against Hungary and Luxembourg, he won his second AEGON Championship title in London defeating Jo-Wilfred Tsonga in the final and followed up with a semi-final appearance at Wimbledon before losing to Rafael Nadal.

Most recently Andy, in first tournament of year, won his first title at Brisbane after he joined forces with new coach and former World No.1 Ivan Lendl.

In the first Grand Slam of the year Andy faced Novak Djokovic in the 2012 Australian Open. The pair battled for nearly five hours on the Rod Laver Arena until Andy was beaten 6-3, 3-6, 6-7(4), 6-1, 7-5.

Looking forward to the upcoming year, Andy commented; "My focus in 2012 is on performing well in the Grand Slams and the London 2012 Olympics."
