Grant Fellows has won the November Aegon Coach of the Month award for his fine work as Head Coach at Cranleigh Lawn Tennis and Social Club.
The enthusiastic coach has only been in the role for 12 months but has already managed to provide tennis to more than 500 children and enjoyed a turnout of just under 200 people at his Great British Tennis Weekend events.
Through successful open weekends and introducing new initiatives such as Tennis Xpress and Cardio Tennis, the Merton Park club has gained 60 new adult members and seen the junior coaching programme rise from 70 players to 130.
On receiving the award, Grant said: "To receive this national award is an absolute honour and even brought a tear to my eye. I have put my heart and soul in to my role as Head Coach and it's great to receive the recognition for all the hard work.
“It is extremely rewarding to see so many people of all different ages enjoying playing tennis and seeing the players develop week in week out.
“I couldn't have won this award without the support from Tennis Surrey, my coaching team and the club committee.”
