Djokovic beats Murray in five in Australian Open semi

Novak Djokovic has beaten Andy Murray in five sets in the semi-finals of the men's singles at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The world No.1 won 6-3, 3-6, 6-7(4), 6-1, 7-5 in a match lasting almost five hours on the Rod Laver Arena.

In the final the Serb will go on to face world No.2 Rafael Nadal on Sunday after the Spaniard defeated Roger Federer on Thursday.

In a tight match in the semi-final Murray recovered from losing the first set to take the next two before quickly surrendering the fourth to send the match into a decider.

In the fifth set Murray was broken in the sixth game, falling 2-5 down, before recovering for 5-5. In the 11th game Murray had three chances to break the world No.1 but was unable to convert.

Serving to stay in the match at 5-6 Murray fell 15-40 behind and Djokovic took his chance on his first opportunity to wrap up the match just under the five hour mark.

Day Eleven Highlights

Women's Doubles

Unseeded Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva came from a set down to defeat 11th seeds Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci to lift the Women's doubles title in Melbourne. The Russians came through a hard fought encounter 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

Mixed Doubles

The finalists were decided in the Mixed Doubles on day 12 with 8th seeds Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Horia Tecau and 5th seeded Elena Vesnina and Leander Paes advancing to the final. Mattek-Sands and Tecau defeated sixth seeds Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi 6-3, 6-3 while Vesnina and Paes recovered from a set down to see off Italians Roberta Vinci and Daniele Bracciali.

Juniors Doubles

There was an upset in the Girl's Doubles final as unseeded Americans Gabrielle Andrews and Taylor Townsend surprised top seeds Irina Khromacheva and Danka Kovinic in a tightly contested final 5-7, 7-5 (10-6).
