Katie Boulter reaches Australian Open doubles final

Katie Boulter and Serbian partner Ivana Jorovic have reached the final of the Australian Open junior girls’ doubles in Melbourne.

Boulter & Jorovic, who are No.2 seeds, defeated Australian pair Bains & Tjandramulia 6-4, 3-6, 10-5 in one hour 17 minutes. They will face No.1 seeds Kalinina (UKR) & Kulichkova (RUS) for the title.

Wheelchair Tennis

Andy Lapthorne won his third Australian Open quad doubles title today after partnering American David Wagner to a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Australian Dylan Alcott and South Africa’s Lucas Sithole in Melbourne.

There will be two more Grand Slam finals for British players on the Tennis Foundation’s Wheelchair Tennis Performance Programme on Friday after Gordon Reid and Jordanne Whiley also reached the men’s doubles and women’s doubles finals respectively.

Day 11 Highlights

The Battle

Stanislas Wawrinka sealed his place in his first Grand Slam final with a hard fought four set win over Tomas Berdych. The eighth seed did not drop serve during the match and won a single point more than Berdych at the end of the 6-3, 6-7(1), 7-6(3), 7-6(4) victory.

The Upset

20th seed Dominika Cibulkova reached her first Grand Slam final by overpowering No.5 seed Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1, 6-2 in the semi-finals. In the final the Slovakian will face fourth seed Li Na who roared out the blocks against 19 year-old Canadian Eugenie Bouchard before coming through 6-2, 6-4.

On the Doubles Court

The finalists were decided in the Men's doubles with the teams of Eric Butorac and Raven Klaasen and Robert Lindstedt and Lukasz Kubot victorious in the semi-finals. Unseeded Butorac and Klaasen defeated former finalists Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic in straight sets while 14th seeded Lindstedt and Kubot battled past 13th seeds Michael Llodra and Nicolas Mahut 6-4, 6-7(12), 6-3.
