Organised by the Tennis Foundation, the British Open is one of six Super Series events on the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour and one of the most important tournaments in the world outside of the Grand Slams.

This year the tournament will run from 26-31 July 2016.

The 2015 British Open saw the tournament in its 26th year and with an entry that included 26 world top 10 ranked players across the men's, women's and quad singles events. The 2015 British Open was the first Super Series event to come within the ranking qualification window for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

The Wheelchair Tennis Tour originated in 1992 with 11 international tournaments. By 2000, the number of tournaments had reached 130 events in 37 countries and the 2015UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour features over 160 tournaments in more than 40 countries.

The 2015 British Open was also once again crucial for the world's leading players trying to earn enough wrorld ranking points to qualify for the year-end NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters, which takes place from 25 - 29 November in London.
