Bob & Mike Bryan claimed a strong four set win against Dom Inglot & Colin Fleming on day two of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group round one tie.
Inglot, who was playing his first match for the Aegon GB Davis Cup Team, and Fleming got off to a nervous start with the Bryan’s racing through the first set to take it 6-2.
It was a much stronger start to the second set from the British pair with some impressive net play but they couldn’t find a way through the World No.1 doubles pair. After soaking up the pressure the Bryan’s got the crucial break at 4-3 and served out the set for 6-3.
It was Inglot & Fleming who broke first in the third set with their first break point of the match to lead 4-2. Then having saved a break point in the next game, Inglot served it out for 6-3 to take it into a fourth, as memories of James Ward’s heroic performance from the day before came to mind.
It was not to be though as the Bryan’s dominated the fourth set to keep the tie alive for the USA, completing a 6-2, 6-3, 3-6 ,6-1 victory. This means that Great Britain go into the singles on Sunday leading 2-1.
