Marin Cilic and Lleyton Hewitt have both won their quarter-final matches in the men's singles at the Aegon Championships.
Cilic, the No. 5 seed, despatched Tomas Berdych in straight sets in the first match of the day on Friday at The Queen’s Club.
The defending champion upset the No.2 seed and remains on course to retain the trophy he lifted last year.
The Croatian defended a break point at 4-4 in the first set when Berdych netted the return. It was another unforced error from the world No.6 that gave Cilic the first set 7-5.
The second set stayed on serve as Cilic held off two break points from Berdych before holding his nerve to take the contest in a tie break 7-6(4).
In the second match of the day, the four time champion at The Queen’s Club, Lleyton Hewitt beat the No.3 seed and world number eight Juan Martin del Potro.
Hewitt broke the Argentinian’s huge serve in the sixth game and didn’t offer Del Potro a way back into the set seeing it out with another break of serve 6-2.
Del Potro steadied himself well at the sit down and immediately broke the Australian’s serve to set the tone for the set. The Olympic bronze medallist went on to take the second set in a reverse of scores from the first, 2-6.
It then took four games of the final set for the first break and it went the way of Hewitt. He then held well against a resilient del Potro before taking the match with a break in the final game.
In the sunshine at The Queen’s Club Hewitt was joined by his son as he took the applause of the crowd, setting up a great semi-final encounter with Cilic for a place in Sunday's final.
