The start time for play at the Aegon Championships at The Queen's Club on Wednesday has been brought forward from 12.30pm to 11am to catch up on the matches that were postponed on Tuesday.
The Wednesday schedule will start with a blockbuster singles match between Lleyton Hewitt and Grigor Dimitrov, to be followed by the second seed Tomas Berdych against Thiemo De Bakker. The first appearance of Andy Murray will come after that, with the US Open champion and top seed up against Nicolas Mahut of France. Mahut defeated Murray in a third set tie-break at the same stage last year.
Chris Kermode, Tournament Director of the Aegon Championships, said: “It was a frustrating day with the weather on Tuesday, particularly for the spectators, but from a scheduling perspective we were at least able to complete a couple of singles matches on Centre Court, and 13 in total. On Wednesday, we are expecting a dry start, so we have moved the start time forward to 11am to enable us to play as many matches as possible.”
The silver lining to Tuesday's rain is that Wednesday's play features every big name in the draw. Following Murray on to the Centre Court will be Jo Wilfried Tsonga against Edouard Roger Vasselin, and on Court One, the defending champion Marin Cilic will meet compatriot Ivan Dodig.
Court One, which will also start at 11am, will open with Britain's Dan Evans up against Finland's Jarkko Niemenen.
