Murray’s much anticipated comeback, and return to the grass courts of The Queen’s Club, started in confident fashion as the Scot matched all the accomplished Mahut had to offer.
The British No.1 is looking for revenge after the Frenchman’s win when at the same stage of last year’s Aegon Championships and will be hopeful of progressing towards a third round match against Marinko Matosevic.
Earlier on Centre Court second seed Tomas Berdych defeated Dutch player Thiemo De Bakker in straight sets, winning 6-1, 6-4.
