It’s day five and the quarter-finals at the Aegon Championships at The Queen's Club.
The first of the last-eight singles matches sees the defending champion Marin Cilic take on the No.2 seed Tomas Berdych. The Czech leads their head-to-head 4-1, but this is their first clash on grass and Cilic has been improving with every match, winning five straight games to take down Feliciano Lopez in the previous round.
In the next match, four time champion at The Queen's Club, Lleyton Hewitt, faces Juan Martin del Potro. The Argentinian comes into this tie in ominous form following his victory over Dan Evans in the previous round. The 32 year old Hewitt is looking to continue his run at the Aegon Championships this year, hoping to become the oldest winner in the tournament’s history.
The third match on sees the first meeting of the No.1 seed Andy Murray and Germany’s Benjamin Becker. Murray, who is yet to drop a set in the tournament, is hoping to push on to the tournament’s semi-finals with a third win in two days after despatching Nicolas Mahut and Marinko Matosevic.
The last of the quarter-finals is another first encounter between Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and American Denis Kudla. 110 ranking places separate the two players and the crowd favourite Tsonga, who is appearing in his seventh ATP World Tour quarter-final this season, is looking to push on to the semi-finals to meet the winner of Murray and Becker.
British interest is also maintained in the quarter-finals of the doubles tournament. Colin Fleming and Wimbledon Champion Jonny Marray meet the Indian No. 3 seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna. Meanwhile the No.1 seeds and brothers, Bob and Mike Bryan, will face Jamie Murray and his Australian partner John Peers in the final match scheduled on Centre Court.
