Judy Murray blogs from the US Open - Finals Weekend

Day 14 - Sunday 9th September

Well Sunday lived up to its name, thankfully. It was roasting and no sign of the hurricane that had disrupted play the previous day. I mean, what was that all about? Tough, tough conditions to play in and points constantly stopped because of UFOs. For a Scot like myself, it was nothing more than a strong breeze, of course. It's just that it's hot air. And yes, I know all about that!!!! You never get that north of the border. Always cold. Suffice to say I was Gone With The Wind. Sorry, couldn't resist.

The wind can be a real leveller and playing in it is a big test of concentration. It's a bonus if your smart, have quick reactions and good hand skills, coz you need to be able to improvise a lot as the ball never comes through to you at the height, pace or depth that you expect. Enough of that. Let's just say that right after Andy's match with The Berd had finished, the whole site was evacuated coz of a tornado alert.  Yep, it was that bad. Funny thing was that while everyone else was being shooed off site, Andy's presser was going on oblivious to it all.

And I know you've read about that presser. Yep Scotland's two white knights - Sir Sean and Sir Alex - desperate to say hello to Andy before the evacuation.....crashed into the media conference and halted everything. From Scotland With Love? Very funny stuff.

Look who crashed the presser. Scotlands finest!!!

Enough of that. What about the juniors!! First Slam title for Kyle Edmund in the boys doubles and runner up slot for Liam Broady in the singles yesterday. Almost had it. Break up in the 3rd but Filip Peliwo came up with some big tennis when it mattered. Some big names in the crowd including Sir Cliff Richard. Thankfully it didn't rain. Kidding, Cliff. I was hoping Liam would win so he could lead the singing with "Congratulations.....". Yep I had it all worked out. I know all the words. Sad but true.

Popped into Ashe after that and saw bit of Andy practising with Mr Lendl who has lost a shedload of weight since Wimbledon. Impressive. Sat in the player garden for a bit just before the ladies final. Saw the larger than life DJ/Party Rocker RedFoo rubbing shoulders - and rackets - with everybody.

RedFoo giving Novak some tips. Hopefully not fashion tips.

He was even giving some tips to Novak. If you don't know who RedFoo is, he was the guy who sang "I'm sexy and I know it". Not sure I agree with him, however.

Ladies final viewing from a sponsors suite on level 1. Great DIY mini hot dogs and chocolate bombs with whipped cream. My kind of evening. Great final. Serena immense first set and last 4 games. Unstoppable. Vika had 5-3 final set but when she needed her A game, Serena found double AA. This is her at the end of the match. Yes, she is alive.

Serena.....floored

So I'm writing this from Starbucks. Where else? Morning of stress-busting shopping before the men's final. Well, it is New York. It's the done thang, man :)
