Ian Payne finished third in the quad consolation singles, while bowing out to eventual champions Greg Hasterok and David Wagner in the quad doubles semi-finals.

Payne narrowly missed out on finishing runner-up in the consolation event after being edged out of his first round-robin match against Sebastien Jance of France 6-4, 0-6, 7-5.

The Kent 16-year-old also beat Sweden's Petter Edstrom 6-0, 6-2, and put in a fine effort against the eventual winner and vastly more experienced Italian Antonio Raffaele before Raffaele held on for a 6-4, 6-2 win.

Ian Payne moved into the quad doubles semi-finals on the second day of play in Belgium as Antony Cotterill saw his singles and doubles challenges come to an end.

Payne and Canada's Sarah Hunter defeated Cotterill and Sweden's Petter Edstrom, with Payne and Hunter now set to play American top seeds Greg Hasterok and David Wagner for a place in the final as Payne contests the doubles semi-finals for the second successive year.

Cotterill went out of the quad singles after a 6-1, 7-5 loss to Sweden's world No 5 Anders Hard, while Payne begins his quad consolation singles challenge on Thursday's third day of play in Jambes, when he takes on Frenchman Sebastien Jance in the first of his four round-robin group matches.

There were mixed fortunes for Antony Cotterill and Ian Payne on the first day of the Belgian Open, as Cotterill progressed to the quad singles quarter-finals. The new world No. 8 beat Italy's Alfredo di Cosmo 6-2, 6-2 to earn his place in the last eight against Swedish second seed Anders Hard.

However, Payne saw his bid to reach the quarter-finals for the second successive year come to an end against his Canadian doubles partner Sarah Hunter as the third seed's greater experience helped her to a 6-3, 6-0 victory. Payne moves on to a four-way round-robin contest in the quad consolation singles.

Meanwhile, there will be a Brit in the quad doubles semi-finals after Payne and Hunter were drawn to meet Cotterill and Sweden's Petter Edstrom in Wednesday's quarter-finals.

Antony Cotterill and Ian Payne travel to the Belgian Open on the back of their respective campaigns at the British Open.

Already a semi-finalist in the ITF 1 Series Atlanta Open this season, Cotterill arrives in Belgium having reached his first Super Series doubles final at the British Open. The world No. 9 will line-up as one of six world top 10 players in the quad singles, including British Open finalists Lucas Sithole of South Africa and David Wagner of the USA.

As he did last year, Payne plays his first overseas tournament of the season in Belgium and return to Jambes a year on from reaching his first ITF 1 Series quarter-final. Payne will aim to build on reaching the quad consolation singles final at the British Open.
