Dan Evans finished as runner-up at the Odlum Brown VanOpen men’s singles final in Vancouver. Evans took on second seed Vasek Pospisil but missed out 6-0, 1-6, 7-5.

James Ward could not defend his title in Vancouver as his good run of form came to an end against Australian Greg Jones. Jones defeated Ward 6-1, 7-6(4).

Dan Evans moved into the quarter-finals after defeating Israel's Amir Weintraub 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Evans will face eighth seed Olivier Rochus for a place in the semi-finals.

James Ward recovered from the lose of a set to beat qualifier James McGee4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Ward plays Australian Greg Jones in round two.

Dan Evans has repeated the form he found at the Davis Cup tie against Russia earlier in the year as he defeated top seed Evgeny Donskoy 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to move into the second round of the Odlum Brown Vanopen, an ATP Challenger event. Evans plays Amir Weintraub next.
2011 champion James Ward is also in action this week in Vancouver and plays qualifier James McGee in round one.
Men's singles
