Laura Robson was defeated in round two in Carlsbad by No.3 seed Petra Kvitova 6-1, 6-2. Robson was in doubles action later in the day where Raquel Kops-Jones & Abigail Spears beat Robson and Lisa Raymond 6-4, 6-3.

British No.1 Laura Robson into Southern California Open round two
British No.1 Laura Robson defeated Ayumi Morita 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the Southern California Open at Carlsbad to set up a second round meeting with Petra Kvitova in round two.
"It was really tough today (Monday) - Ayumi was playing super, super well," Robson said. "It felt like every time I hit a good shot, she would hit a better shot. So I just had to stick with it and wait for my chance.
"After I broke her back at the end of the second set, I felt the momentum on my side again."
