Jordanne Whiley
29/06/13

Jordanne Whiley secured the first Super Series title of her career on the penultimate day of the BNP Paribas Open de France when she won the women's doubles with her Japanese partner Yui Kamiji to complete an ideal preparation for the Wimbledon Wheelchair Doubles Event.

Second seeds Whiley and Kamiji, who won their first tournament together at the ITF 1 Series Korea Open three weeks ago, took their unbeaten partnership to two tournaments and five matches when they upset top seeds Lucy Shuker and Dutchwoman Aniek van Koot 6-2, 6-4.

It was the first time that two British women had been on the opposite side of the net in a Super Series final on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour, while Whiley and Kamiji now pair up at Wimbledon.

Gordon's Reid's bid to reach his third men's singles Super Series final and his second this year ended in the last four against Japanese world No. 1 Shingo Kunieda. World No. 4 Reid, who had beaten Kunieda for the very first time in April's semi-finals at the South Afircan Open , very nearly took top seed to a third set once again in Paris, but the Kunieda eventually held on for a 6-1, 7-5 victory.

Whiley, Shuker and Reid will all now head to Wimbledon along with Kamiji, van Koot and Kunieda, for the Wimbledon Wheelchair Doubles Event, which takes place from 5-7 July. Whiley and Shuker paired up to reach the women's doubles final last year, but both players pair with different partner this year, with Whiley looking to extend her unbeaten sequence with Kamiji, who will be making her Wimbledon debut.

Shuker partners Dutchwoman Marjolein Buis at Wimbledon after the duo reached the women's doubles final at January's Australian Open, while Reid partners Dutchman Maikel Scheffers.

Gordon Reid
28/06/13

Gordon Reid eased into the men's singles semi-finals on the fourth day of the BNP Paribas Open de France as Lucy Shuker and Jordanne Whiley ensured that there will be a British winner at the latest Super Series event on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour after both reaching the women's doubles final.

World No. 4 Reid put up a confident performance to despatch unseeded Frenchman Frederic Cattaneo in the men's singles quarter-finals.

Reid now faces a rematch of his South African Open semi-final against world No. 1 Shingo Kunieda in April, when the British No. 1 beat Japan's Kunieda for the first time in his career to reach his second Super Series singles final.

Whiley reached her first Super Series final in either singles or doubles competition when partnering Japan's Yui Kamiji to victory in the women's double semi-finals. Second seeds Whlley and Kamiji, who are playing in only their second tournament together, maintained their unbeaten record as a partnership when they beat fourth seeds Katharina Kruger of Germany and Chile's Francisca Mardones 63 62.

Shuker and Dutchwoman Aniek van Koot recovered from a mid-match dip in form in their semi-final as the top seeds completed a 60 67(6) 63 victory over third seeds Sabine Ellerbrock of Germany and Marianna Lauro of Italy. Their victory meant that there will now be a British player on both sides of the net in a women's Super Series final for the first time. Whiley and Kamiji will hope to boost their confidence ahead of pairing up together next week at Wimbledon, while Shuker will be hoping to win her second Super Series doubles title.

Earlier in the day Whiley made a promising start to her women's singles semi-final against Ellerbrock before the world No. 2 went on to prevail 76(4) 62. Meanwhile, Reid and Tom Egberink of the Netherlands also bowed out of the men's doubles in the semi-finals after a 6-3, 6-1 loss to top seeds and recent Roland Garros champions Stephane Houdet of France and Kunieda.

Lucy Shuker

27/06/13

Gordon Reid and Lucy Shuker reached the semi-finals of the men's doubles and women's doubles respectively on the third day of play in Paris.

Reid and Dutchman Tom Egberink wasted little time in beating Morocco's Lhaj Boukartacha and Leonid Shevchik of Russia 6-0, 6-1 in the men's doubles quarter-finals, with the third seeds advancing to a semi-final against top seeds and Roland Garros champions Stephane Houdet of France and Shingo Kunieda of Japan.

The prospect of two Brits being in the women's doubles final at the weekend increased when Shuker and Dutchwoman Aniek van Koot were even more dominant in their opening match against Chile's Macarena Cabrillana and Polina Shakirova of Russia. Top seeds Shuker and van Koot won 6-0, 6-0 as Shuker joined Jordanne Whiley in the semi-finals the day after Whiley and Japan's Yui Kamiji had safely secured their place in the last four.

Shuker and van Koot will face third seeds Sabine Ellerbrock of Germany and Marianna Lauro of Italy in their semi-final, while second seeds Whiley and Kamiji will play the fourth seeds, Katharina Kruger of Germany and Francisca Mardones of Chile, in the other semifinal.

However, earlier on Thursday's third day of play fifth seed Shuker saw her women's singles challenge come to an end against world No. 1 van Koot in the quarter-finals, with the Dutch defending champion advancing to the last four 62 63.

Whiley will bid to reach the semifinals herself on Friday when she faces world No. 2 Ellerbrock, with fourth seed Reid also playing Frederic Cattaneo of France in the men's singles quarter-finals.

26/06/13

Gordon Reid, Lucy Shuker and Jordanne Whiley reached the quarterfinals of the men's and women's singles respectively on the second day of play in Paris.

Fourth seed Reid defeated Thomas Vinatier 6-0, 6-2 and will now meet his second French opponent in successive matches when he plays world No. 11 Frederic Cattaneo for a place in the semi-finals of the men's singles.

Fifth seed Shuker powered to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Cathy Portier as she and Whiley both defeated Frecnh opponents, too. Shuker will face Dutch world No. 1 Aniek van Koot for a place in the semifinals, with Whiley set to meet German second seed and recent Roland Garros champion Sabine Ellerbrock after defeating Emilie Chene 6-0, 6-1. It will be the first time Whiley has played world No. 2 Ellerbrock since Whiley beat the German at the Atlanta Open at the beginning of May,

Whiley is also into the women's singles semi-finals, partnering Japan's Yui Kamiji. After their first round bye the second seeds beat Chene and Russia's Evgeniya Korotkina 6-1, 6-1 to secure a place in the last four against fourth seeds Katharina Kruger of Germany and Francisca Mardones of Chile.

Top seeds Shuker and van Koot will take on Chile's Macarena Cabrillana and Polina Shakirova of Russia in an attempt to join Whiley and Kamiji in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Reid and Dutchman Tom Egberink are into the men's doubles quarter-finals after beating French duo David Dalmasso and Lahcen Majdi 6-1, 6-3. Reid and Egberink will play Morocco's Lhaj Boukartacha and Russia's Leonid Shevchik for a place in the semi-finals.

Gordon Reid

25/06/13

British No. 1 Gordon Reid made the best possible start in Paris, beating Poland's Krzystof Brezyna 6-0, 6-0 to set up a last 16 match against Frenchman Thomas Vinatier.

After first round byes for Lucy Shuker and Jordanne Whlley, Shuker will open her tournament on Wednesday's second day of play against Cathy Portier, with Whiley facing another French challenge from Emilie Chene.

Reid and Dutchman Tom Egberink are third seeds for the men's doubles, while Shuker and Aniek van Koot of the Netherlands are top seeds for the women's doubles. Whiley will partner Japan's Yui Kamiji before they pair up for the Wimbledon Wheelchair Doubles Event next week. Whiley and Kamiji are second seeds in Paris.

24/06/13

Gordon Reid, Lucy Shuker and Jordanne Whiley contest the fourth Super Series event on the 2013 NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour before each of them heads to the Wimbledon Wheelchair Doubles Event.

Reid returns to Paris three weeks after making his Grand Slam singles debut at Roland Garros, where he reached the men's singles semi-finals and his first Grand Slam doubles final. Reid goes into this year's event at his highest career ranking of No. 4 and will aim to reach his third Super Series final, having finished runner-up at the 2012 British Open final and April's 2013 South African Open, where he beat world No. 1 Shingo Kunieda of Japan for the first time in the semi-finals.

World No. 7 Shuker reached her second Roland Garros women's doubles final earlier this month and returns to Paris for this week's hard court tournament as a previous women's single semi-finalist at the BNP Paribas Open de France. Like Reid, Shuker is also a previous Super Series finalist, having finished runner-up at the USTA Championships in St. Louis last October.

Whiley goes into this week's tournament at her career best women's singles ranking of No. 8 and has won the first two ITF 1 Series titles of her career since May, at the Atlanta Open and the Korea Open. Whiley is a two-time Super Series singles semi-finalist, having reached the last four at the British Open in 2010 and the Sydney International in 2012.
