David Phillipson saw his Slovakia Open challenge come to an end on the penultimate day of play in Trnava after bowing out in the men's singles semi-finals and finishing runner-up in the men's doubles.
After reaching his second ITF 2 Series singles semi-final in the last three weeks Phillipson was unable to recover from a slow start against Austrian Martin Legner as the second seed reached his second final in successive weeks 6-1, 6-1.
After reaching their first doubles final as a partnership, Phillipson and Poland's Tadeusz Kruszelnicki, the third seeds, found Frederic Cattaneo of France and Legner too strong for them and the top seeds sealed a 6-2, 6-2 win to claim their third doubles titles in three weeks.
