Laura Robson defeated by Ana Ivanovic in Madrid Open

Laura Robson was overcome in three sets by former world number one Ana Ivanovic in the third round of the Madrid Open.

Robson, who beat world number four Agnieska Radwanska on Monday, let a 5-2 lead slip in the deciding set to miss out 5-7, 6-2, 7-6(5) to the Serbian world No.16.

"I'll definitely take the positives out of the match," said Robson after the match.

"It's been a good week of tennis for me and my level has picked up a lot since Estoril last week. It's not all bad and I've still got Rome to look forward to next week. It was a great match from her and hopefully we'll have some more great matches in the future."

Robson's defeat followed news that she had split with Croatian coach Zeljko Krajan.

Laura Robson accomplishes career first with win over Agnieska Radwanska

Laura Robson overcame world number four Agnieska Radwanska at the Madrid Open in straight sets to achieve her first victory over a player ranked inside the world's top five.

The British teenager beat the 2012 Wimbledon finalist, 6-3, 6-1 to progress to the third round and next plays either Ana Ivanovic or qualifier Chanelle Scheepers.

"I'm really happy with how I played today and I went on the court with a clear game plan," Robson told BBC Radio 5 live. "I've practised with her a couple of times so I knew what her strengths and weaknesses were."

"I'm happy with my returns and a lot happier with my serves as well," added Robson. "It's definitely great to beat a top 10 player, especially on clay. It's a very exciting day for me."
