Jordanne Whiley and Antony Cotterill reached the women's singles and quad singles semi-finals respectively on Thursday in Alghero, while Cotterill also moved into the quad doubles final and David Phillipson reached the men's doubles semi-finals.

After his bye into the last eight of the quad singles Cotterill launched a fine comeback against Italy's Giuseppe Polidori to eventually secure a 2-6, 7-6(3), 6-3 victory. Top seed Cotterill will play Israel's Boaz Kramer for a place in the final.

Whiley had a much more comfortable 6-3, 6-2 win over French fifth seed Charlotte Famin as the British No. 2 set up a semi-final against her doubles partner, Dutch third seed Sharon Walraven.

However, Louise Hunt bowed out of the women's singles after a 6-3, 6-1 loss to German top seed and world No. 2 Sabine Ellerbrock, while David Phillipson was able to win just one game against Japan's world No. 1 Shingo Kunieda in their men's singles quarter-final losing out 6-0, 6-1.

But Phillipson had a better time of it in the doubles teaming up with Sweden's Dan Wallin to defeat the fourth seeds to reach the men's doubles semi-finals. Phillipson and Wallin will face top seeds Stephane Houdet of France and Austria's Martin Legner for a place in Saturday's final after their 7-6(3), 6-3 win over Poland's Kamil Fabisiak and Yoann Quilliou of France.

Meanwhile, Cotterill and Sweden’s Marcus Jonsson beat Italian duo Marco Innocenti Polidori 7-6(3) 6-2 in their quad doubles semi-final. The top seeds will now play Beijing Paralympic silver medallists Kramer and Shraga Weinberg in Friday’s final.

Phillipson is set to face world No. 1 Shingo Kuneida of Japan in the last eight of the men's singles after beating Ivan Lion with his second 6-1, 6-1 victory over an Italian opponent in successive days.

Hunt moved on to a women's singles quarter-final against German top seed Sabine Ellerbrock after defeating Israel's Inna Mashkovsky 6-0, 6-1. Whiley had a walkover in her scheduled women's singles match against Souad Yamani of France and will now face fifth seed Charlotte Famin of France.

Phillipson and Sweden's Dan Wallin defeated Italy's Alberto Corradi and Kristof Michils of Belgium 6-1, 6-0 to set up a men's doubles quarter-final against fourth seeds Yoann Quilliou of France and Kamil Fabisiak of Poland.

Whiley and her Dutch partner Sharon Walraven raced to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Denmark's Malene Olsesen and Louise Willersley-Olsen in their women's doubles quarter-final. The top seeds will play Swiss fourth seeds Gabriela Buehler and Karin Suter-Erath for a place in the final.

However, Hunt and her Australian partner Janel Manns saw their women's doubles challenge come to an end in a deciding championship tie-break after 5-7 6-3 10-7 loss to Famin and Austria's Margrit Fink.

Antony Cotterill is still waiting to launch his quad singles and double challenges, but now knows that he will have Italy's Giuseppe Polidori on the opposite side of the net when he does.

After his first round bye top seed Cotterill will face Polidori for a place in the quad singles semi-finals, while Cotterill and Marcus Jonsson of Sweden take on Polidori and his fellow Italian Marco Innocentii for a place in the quad doubles semi-finals.

David Phillipson opened the British challenge in Sardinia with a comfortable 6-1, 6-1 victory over Luca Arco to set himself up with a second round against a second Italian opponent, Ivan Lion. Providing he beats Lion, eighth seed Phillipson is likely to be on course for a quarter-final against world No. 1 Shingo Kunieda of Japan.

Jordanne Whiley and Louise Hunt are both seeded for the women's singles and had first round byes, with second seed Whiley now set to open her account against Souad Yamani of France and sixth seed Hunt set to take on Israel's Inna Mashkovsky for a place in the quarter-finals.

Antony Cotterill is top seed for the quad singles and after a first round bye Cotterill will meet either Germany's Nick Nobbe or Italy's Giuseppe Polidori in the quarter-finals.

Phillipson will partner Sweden's Dan Wallin in the men's doubles. Italy's Alberto Corradi and Belgium's Kristof Michils will be Phillipson and Wallin's first round opponents.

Whiley and Dutchwoman Sharon Walraven are top seeds for the women's doubles and will open their account against Danish duo Malene Olesen and Louise Willersely-Olsen after a first round bye. Hunt and Australia's Janel Manns are third seeds and are yet to know their quarter-final opponents.

The three ITF 1 Series events remaining on the 2013 NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour culminate in the Nottingham Indoor at the end of October, but this week's ITF 1 Series tournament in Sardinia sees David Phillipson, Jordanne Whiley, Louise Hunt and Antony Cotterill provide British representation in each of the men's, women's and quad events in Italy.

While three of the world's top four ranked players are among the entries for the men's singles, British No. 3 Phillipson is likely to be among the eight seeded players as moves from the Open de L'Ile de Re in France, where he was a men's singles quarterfinalist.

Just over a week on from winning the women's singles and doubles at the PTR Championships in the USA, world No. 7 Whiley will have Germany's world No. 2 Sabine Ellerbrock and Dutch world No. 9 Sharon Walraven among her main challengers in the women's singles. Meanwhile, after winning the women's doubles over the weekend at the Open de L'Ile de Re, British No. 3 Hunt is also expected to be among the seeded players.

Cotterill bypassed defending his ITF 2 Series quad singles title in Ile de Re to prepare for his Sardinia Open challenge and the world No. 8 will head a talented field that includes Ile de Re champion Antonio Raffaele, his fellow Italians Marco Innocenti and Giuseppe Polidori and Israel's former world No. 1 Shraga Weinberg.
