James Ward moved into the second round of the singles after defeating Poland's Michal Przysiezny 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(6) and now faces No.6 seed Mikhail Youzhny.
In the doubles Jonny Marrayand Russian partner Dmitry Tursunov fell in the first round 6-3, 4-6, 10-2 to Bautista Agut & Sijsling.
