James Davis and Sophie Drakeford-Lewis were crowned champions of the HSBC Road to Wimbledon on Saturday after they clinched victories in the boys’ and girls’ singles finals.
Drakeford-Lewis defeated Megan Davies of Staffordshire 7-5, 6-2 to win the girls’ title, while top seed Davis came back from a set down to overcome second seed Joe Tyler 0-6, 6-4, 6-3 to win the boys’ title.
Tournament Director Paul Hutchins said: “We have had a terrific week and particularly high standard boys’ and girls’ singles finals. We wish all four players the best of luck at Junior Nationals next week in Nottingham.”
Hutchins added: “This event began in 2002 and the enthusiastic appreciation of spending a week at Wimbledon is always very pleasing and hopefully players going back home with renewed aspiration to eventually play in the Championships."
