U12 Girls Team
Firstly, a big thank you to all the parents for their wonderful support and encouragement over the 2 days and to the team for their support of each other and conduct on and off the court.
This was my first experience as Captain for this event and I actually managed not to break the net at this event!!!!!
Lauren King-Sparke played very well and her toughest match was her singles match on the Sunday afternoon against Michaella Brown which was a great match which Lauren eventually lost but some great tennis played. Lauren showed over the weekend a great attitude both on and off the court.
Lauren Armstong, although again has played up an age group had a tough match on the Saturday but came through this with a win for the team. No such trouble in her next 2 singles matches, but came up short against Herts on the Sunday going down in 2 sets.
Indu struggled on the Saturday to find her consistency, but on the Sunday played really well to win a very tight match against Herts coming through in the breaker.
With regards to the doubles Lauren and Lauren had a very tight match against middx coming through this in the 3rd set breaker. Indu and Lauren Armstrong played against Oxon and had no problem in their doubles match. On the Sunday we beat Gloucestershire in the doubles and then needed to beat Herts and then win a breaker play off, but unfortunately we were well beaten against a good doubles pair.
The team need to work on less double faults and calling the serve when returning as a lot of serves were out from the opponents but were not called, need to address this girls!!!!! Overall though the girls gave it their all each day and worked really hard on court and we came up short this time finishing second, but there is always next time!!
On a lighter note the mints on reception proved to be a hit with the team!!!!
