On Tuesday 17th June Chesham 1879 were very lucky to have a special guest at the club to help with our training. Jarmila Gajdosova kindly gave up her time to come down and hit with our juniors as well as answer some questions from children and coaches. Jarmila came fresh of victory in Nottingham which secured her a wildcard into Wimbledon. She peaked at 25 in the world and in the past regularly competed against the likes of Venus and Serena. She also is a Grand Slam Champion having won mixed doubles at the Oz Open. It was fantastic for the children to be able to spend some time with her. She helped with our "Futures" development sessions and also played some points against our "Tour Squad" performance players. After this we all sat down for a Q&A session with her, in which she gave some very helpful advice to the kids and also answered many of our coaches questions. Overall it was a great day and hopefully she will have inspired some of our little ones to follow in her footsteps. We wish her good luck at Wimbledon and also with her future tennis career."
