CAMBRIDGESHIRE TENNIS NEWS

Monday, June 13, 2016

One of the actions from the recent AGM was to make sure our new Committee provided regular news and updates about tennis in the county to all of you. We want you to feel able to ask for our support with respect to any tennis related matter. Over the coming months we are planning to visit a number of clubs and will prioritise anyone who requests a visit.

Our goal is to get more people, across all age groups, playing tennis in the county more often. According to Sport England, Cambridgeshire has outperformed most other counties in terms of maintaining levels of participation. Nationally, over the past 10 years, there has been a 22% decline in those playing tennis at least once a month. In Cambridgeshire we have limited this drop to only 2%. Our challenge now is to turn the figure positive!

Part of this drive is to share news about upcoming initiatives. Some of these will be funding opportunities, others will be local events. So feel free to forward anything in this newsletter to your members. A key date for your diary is 12 September. The Davis Cup (the trophy not the team!) is on a tour of the country and that is the day that the cup lands in Cambridge. Why not take a group of your members to see the iconic trophy? More information about booking a slot can be found below.
