There has been large success for some of the Cheshire Junior girls over the past few months.
Hannah McColgan had a successful week at the Tennis Europe event in Edinburgh from the 5th – 13th July. Hannah managed to win the doubles title and reached the semi-final of the singles.
She has also qualified for the Road to Wimbledon finals after qualifying out of the north regional stage and had a positive week at Nike Junior International event at Queenswood.
Hannah has also had team success with her Aegon Team Tennis Team reaching the finals at Roehampton and has also represented the Cheshire Senior Women’s team in group one of the Summer County Cup in Eastbourne last week.
Eden Richardson has been playing several under 18 ITF events which have seen her ranking rise from 900 in January to around 210 now.
Below is a summary of Eden's super year. All tournaments are 18U ITF:-
ABU DHABI (January) - 2 G4 ITF's, Eden won singles in the 2nd tournament and was runner up in the first
NOTTINGHAM (April) - Eden was runner up in the singles of the G4 ITF
ROEHAMPTON June (G1 ITF) - Eden lost in the 1st round main draw singles to Kristina Schmeidlova (No 6 in the world ITF) 3-6 2-6.
JUNIOR WIMBLEDON (ITF GA) - Eden lost in the qualifying event of the singles.
BELGIUM ITF G4 (July) - Eden went straight from Wimbledon to a clay court tournament at the Justine Henin Academy, 20 miles south of Brussels. She was runner up in the doubles with Egyptian Hana Mortagy and on Saturday she won her 2nd ITF singles title of the year beating Mirjam Bjorkland (Sweden) 6-7 7-6 6-1.
Eden joined Hannah to play in the Cheshire Summer County Cup team at Eastbourne last week.
