Games kicked off a bit like the all important football match that was going on at the same time.
Each game was so exciting to watch as abilities were very closely matched. Great to have all parents volunteering to score. Well done and thank you.
The children all displayed some excellent skills with big serves, great volleys and ground strokes that made you forget they are only U8s.
The children were all out to win – if we were in any doubt before the sheer determination was etched on their faces during some very long rallies.
At half way point the children asked the match score so Al (Heswall) and Jon (Glan Aber) were summoned to give them an update. The score was 6 - 6
With 2 games left to play the score was still tied at 7-7 until finally Heswall came out winners 9-7. Just in time for the Club coach Sue Davies who popped in to see how they were doing when she should have been attending another venue, that’s commitment for you.
I asked all the parents to line up on the side of the court then I asked the children to go down the line and the parents shaking their hands saying congratulations and well done.
A wonderful afternoon’s tennis enjoyed not only by the children but parents too.
Felt like I was at a mini Wimbledon.
