Cathie Sabin, President of the LTA, was accompanied on the visit to Hale LTC by Barbara Newnes, President of Cheshire County LTA and Liz Sweeting, LTA Councillor for Cheshire who were both delighted to show Cathie some of the work of Hale LTC with Burnage Academy for Boys as well as other exciting tennis developments in Cheshire. Later that evening, Cathie was the Guest of Honour at the Cheshire County LTA Presentation Evening where Hale LTC was presented with the Club of the Year Award.
Hale LTC's President, Dominic James, who is also a House Leader at Burnage Academy for Boys, said how delighted he is with the way in which the boys have embraced tennis: "Some of these boys have only just arrived in this country, some from very tough backgrounds, some with special educational needs. As a result of this initiative, a large number of the boys have made their own arrangements to play tennis at their local public courts at the weekend. For them to meet Cathie Sabine was a real treat and only went to strengthen their engagement with the sport.
