Tennis players from Lunt's Heath Primary school, representing the Borough of Halton, won the Merseyside games mini-tennis event for the second year in a row!
The team, comprising of 2 boys and 2 girls from across years 3 and 4 beat 5 other Halton school teams, at Widnes Tennis Academy, to qualify to represent Halton at Liverpool Tennis Centre.
On the day the team won matches against St. Vincent’s and Eccleston Lane Ends both from St. Helens, Church Town from Sefton and Windsor school from Liverpool. The final was an incredibly close match against Booker Avenue School with Lunt's Heath winning both girls matches but just losing the boys matches. To decide on the champions, with the match score being equal, the points were counted and Lunts Heath declared the winners by 32 points to 28! A great team effort and it goes to show that every point really does count!
Lunt's Heath school are currently Cheshire LTA's School Team of the year, having shown a big commitment to developing the tennis skills and opportunities for their pupils.
