Youth triumphed at the 2018 Ladies Cheshire Shield competition held at Cuddington and Sandiway Tennis Club on Sunday 10th June. The team from Widnes Tennis Academy defeated last year’s winners Bramhall Lane in the final. Widnes beat Stockton Heath in one semi-final and Bramhall Lane overcame Wallasey Manor in the other. Wallasey Manor won the 3rd place play-off.
In Division 2, Nantwich beat Heswall in the first semi-final and Davenport beat Hartford in the second. Nantwich beat Davenport to win the Plate with Hrtford winnng the 3rd place play-off.
Neston won Division 3, which was played as a round robin with Hoylake 2nd and Cuddington 3rd.
11 teams had played in three round robin groups to decide ther positions in the second part of the competition. The sun shone all day and the standard of tennis was as high as the temperature. The trophies were presented by Liz Sweeting and she thanked Cuddington and Sandiway for hosting the event.
