Penzance Tennis Club has been selected by the LTA to be part of an exciting and unique pilot project run by interactive sports road show event organisers Cross Sports. With only one spot up for grabs in South West for this initial pilot scheme, Penzance Tennis Club was noted as having superb outdoor courts, wonderful facilities and, above all, a fantastic team of coaches and enthusiastic volunteers who ably provide a great experience to new players.
Penzance Tennis Club will work in partnership with Cross Sports – the team responsible for the Wimbledon Play Tennis Zone – to deliver an incredible programme of tennis to schools this summer. The aspiration is to develop a really exciting showcase which encourages kids back into the club environment to take up membership at Penzance Tennis Club.
Trevor Newborn, Chairman of the Club, said: “This is absolutely brilliant news, with massive praise, and trust in delivery, by the LTA in our Club, the committee, members and, of course, our wonderful coaching team led by Martin Coates.”
Martin Coates, Tennis Manager, said: “I am very excited that this will take tennis to the wider community and the role it will play getting more pupils active. This is a great opportunity for local primary school children to have a taste of tennis in a fun festival environment."
