Team Flybe rise to the occasion and conquer West Hants

Team Flybe a group of 8-10yrs with the aim of becoming the next Andy Murray. Travelled to West Hants High Performance Centre, Bournemouth for a 2 day training camp and 1 day of competition. 

Team Flybe an initiative set up between Flybe Airlines and Devon and Cornwall LTA to encourage young tennis players to achieve their potential. The support from Flybe offers great opportunities for players to travel away from home, experience life as a tennis player. Experience different coaching and performance environments. 

So far this sponsorship has seen a rise in national players from Devon and Cornwall.

The team was made up of, Louis Davey of Tarka, Matt Rutter, Daniel Mountford, Luke Aston Wilson, Jed Platts, Tynan Hill of Exeter. Tommy Poli of Exmouth, Robbie and Sammy Broomhead of Taunton Tennis Centre, Archie Graham of Penzance and Jowan Rawson of Leverton Williams, Morgan Hill of Trinity School Teignmouth.  Supported by coaches Si Huddart of Exeter, Thomas Leach of Total Tennis Learning and Myles Fletcher of Exmouth.

The trip was co-ordinated and run by Debbie Hale the LTA Talent Performance Co-ordinator for Devon and Cornwall.

The players arrived Sunday, ready for a 6hr training session a first for many and even more special as they played on the clay. The following day much of the same, all the players loved being pushed to the extreme levels and the improvement rate was seen by all involved.

The West Hants Club, Bournemouth is an accredited High Performance Centre from the LTA, In running a high intensity, well-structured training programme with a total of 15 national players from that one centre.  The centres u11 programme and this training camp was lead by Shane Deacon.

The TEAM Flybe were up for the challenge taking on West Hants on the 3rd day. The green u10 matches were close but West Hants took the lead, whilst the oranges were close in battle. By the end of the singles matches it was all equal with the oranges u9 players for TEAM Flybe taking the lead. Into the final round doubles was all to play for.

The overall result following the last 2 years each team taking a win, it was decided with exceptional performances from TEAM Flybe players took the title for 2013.

Nominated Players for u10, most valuable player Morgan Hill, most improved Tynan Hill. For the u9 most valuable Louis Davey and most improved Sammy Broomhead.
