Last Wednesday saw the lovely courts at Heron Tennis swarming with 64 eager youngsters as the Newquay Family Primary Schools Team Tennis event took place.
In teams of 8 players, the 7-9 year olds enjoyed a fun-packed afternoon that saw them learning new tennis skills, taking on skills challenges and then putting everything together for matches.
The event had been put together through a partnership between Sean Wells & the Sports College partnership, Georgina Loosemore from the LTA and Paul Roberts & the Tennis Development Team at heron.
With Paul, Georgina & Sean overseeing things, and with fantastic help from the Treviglass Sports Leaders, a great afternoon of tennis was enjoyed by everyone and the effort, skills, sportsmanship, enthusiasm and good behaviour shown by all the children was brilliant and a credit to everyone involved.
All of the children left with a smile, a certificate and a voucher for them to come and play more tennis at Heron for free. Thank you to all the children and their teachers for supporting the event.
Although the main aim of the event was for everyone to have fun playing tennis, there was also a competitive aspect to the day and congratulations go to our top 3 teams:
1st – Summercourt School , 2nd - St Columb Minor C Team and 3rd -Trevisker C.P.
