The new series of one day grade 5 competitions are aimed to introduce more players to competition and the Dragon Tennis Centre proved a great venue for the first event.
In the 16 & Under competition, it turned out to be an all Wright affair, as twin brothers Alex and James battled it out to reach the final, where James prevailed 4-2 4-1 on the indoor courts.
The twins, who both turned 15 earlier in the summer, and attend Penrise School, won two other matches to reach the final and will both now receive rankings points towards their AEGON British Tennis rankings.
Elsewhere, in the 12 & Under event, it was top seed Max Cameron Webb who didn’t drop a game throughout the tournament, winning all his matches 4-0 4-0 against some top opposition.
