A Proud Day For Cumbria As We Celebrate The Annual Awards Evening

Wednesday, November 07, 2012

Cumbria celebrated in style at the 2nd Annual Cumbria LTA Awards night last Friday.

The awards were held on 2nd November at the North Lakes Hotel in Penrith and a record amount of tennis-playing Cumbrians attended to see teams and individuals collect well deserved prizes. Teams who had won leagues throughout the year came to be presented with their trophies by Tom Harlow, Participation Director at the LTA, and awards were given out to those who were nominated by their peers as well.

It was a fantastic evening, celebrating all of the success Cumbrian tennis has seen throughout the past year and really recognised those people who give up so much of their time to support and grow tennis in Cumbria.

This year's winners of the nominated awards were:

Most Improved Mini Male: James Hale
Most Improved Mini Female: Caitlin Almond
Most Improved Male 11-18: Albert Glaves
Most Improved Female 11-18: Katie Bell
Coach of the Year: David Wise
Junior Volunteer of the Year: Jocelyn Bell and Oliver Brinicombe
Senior Volunteer of the Year: Pat Taylor
Team of the Year: Cumbria Men's Over 65 Vets Team

Jonathan Hyman

Sepcial Award: Tony Hesmondhalgh

Mini Player of the Year: James Hale
