The fifth year of the 16&Under West Cumbria Junior League saw an impressive debut from Keswick Tennis Club.
In an event which saw 28 boys and girls aged 10 to 16 take part in teams from Maryport (2), Stainburn, Keswick and Seascale it was the Keswick team of Hamish Lucas, Kelvin Tsoi, Rob Saxton, Dan Cowperthwaite & Jonny Piercy playing a great brand of grass court tennis who prevailed.
Organiser David Wise said: “The league is a great follow on from the county wide Aegon Junior Leagues and really gives the clubs the chance to blood new talent, experiment with new doubles pairings and generally keep juniors playing the game throughout the summer.
“Tennis is such an individual sport so it is really nice for the girls to play alongside the boys and for everyone to be rooting for each other. Keswick were full of enthusiasm and fully deserved their victory and I am looking forward to other clubs joining us next year”.
