Carlisle’s Archie Agnew and Mawbray girl Zaynab Brooks have set themselves as the early pacesetters in the 4th West Cumbria Mini Red Tour as both followed up their Silloth wins with victories in the Netherhall leg.
With an increase in participants, the Ashfield funded and Cumbria Community Foundation administered event was crammed full of great Tennis as players from all over Cumbria fought out almost 50 matches in just under two hours at the excellent Netherhall Sports Centre.
Organiser and Referee David Wise said “the Red Tour is the ideal starting place for young players and it’s obvious that performance improves over the series of events”. “Many of Cumbria’s top junior players have taken part in this event and gone onto bigger things and we even have some of them doing the Umpiring for us”.
For their part Archie and Zaynab didn’t have it their own way as they were pushed very hard by Akshay Dharmrajan and Charlotte Gower respectively and the next leg at Stainburn School on the 27th of December looks to be even more exciting.
