Carlisle’s Jake Irving and Workington’s Mia Johnston were the victors at the Cumbria Community Foundation/Ashfield Tennis Club sponsored West Cumbria Mini Red Grand Finals. The five event long series of competitions have been fought out over the winter months, with players coming from as far as Dumfries and with an improvement in every player over the series the finals were eagerly anticipated.
Organiser and Referee David Wise was naturally delighted with the outcome; “Yet again the Mini Red Tour has provided the ideal platform for development of players in this area”. It was another great occasion and I am hopeful that this batch of players will progress in their respective Tennis careers as so many have done in the past that have played here”.

After another series of brilliant matches Jake came out on top in the final against Workington’s Leon Brew, with Mia just pipping Carlisle’s Charlotte Hall in a very tight girls final. Leaderboard winners (for the most points over the series) were Mia Johnston and Carlisle’s Declan Agnew. As is tradition the event was ended with a fun family Doubles, which was won by Archie and Declan Agnew with Owain and Mia Johnston runners up.

Trophies were presented by Mike and Joy Robinson from Cumbria LTA.
