The first two events of this year's Mini Red Tour have provided some fascinating tennis as usual. Now in its eighth year, the series of competitions for under 8 tennis players leads to a grand final in March and is continuing to provide the ideal local low cost base for first time competitors in the area. This year is proving to be no different, with players from across west Cumbria, Carlisle and even Scotland.
The competitions are supported by Cumbria Community Foundation and the Ashfield Tennis Club fund, so it is very important that players local to the area are involved and the first two events, held at Netherhall and St Joseph's Schools respectively, have seen plenty of children from the Workington coaching programme taking part and for the first time this year has seen an extra competition for under 9 beginners.
