Trent College and Repton School Reach Finals of Aberdare and Glanville Cups

Derbyshire's Trent College and Repton School reached the finals of the Aberdare and Glanville Cups at Queenswood held during the first week of July.

The girls team squad from Long Eaton independent day and boarding school, Trent College,  consisting of Ena Ankutse, Harriet Boyles, Gemma Praditngam, Rachel Wood and Sarah Ashcroft defeated Repton, Highfields and Boston Grammar School on the way to to securing a place in the national finals of the Aberdare Cup.

Trent were knocked out in the first round by eventual champions , Cheam High School, but then fought through the plate competition to finish as winners. Cheam High School girls have won the AEGON Team Tennis Schools national title for the last three consecutive years.

The boys team from Repton School got through their first round encounter in the Glanville Cup , but then got knocked out of the evnt in the second round - the title was won by Reed's School for boys who have also taken the honours for the third year running.

The competition started in April with 440 teams competing in the first round and just 32 teams progressing to this week’s national finals, 16 each in the boys’ and girls’ events. Congratulations to both teams for reaching the finals.
