Derbyshire youngster Grace King has triumphed at the West Bridgford Junior Open.

The nine-year-old was among eight girls and won all three of her matches to clinch the under-10 title at the West Bridgford Tennis Club.

It took the Curzon C of E Primary School pupil five sets to reach the final, beating Megan Lait 2-4, 4-1, 10-0 in the quarter-finals.

She faced Ella Gill in the semis, beating her 4-1, 4-1.

King, of David Lloyd Derby, then followed this up with a 4-2, 1-4, 11-9 against Esther Jones, of Yorkshire, to win the tournament.

The youngster was playing in her 13th competition this year, having already played in the Bottlegreen Malvern Junior Open and Solihull International Junior Tournament earlier this month.
Her victory comes a month after she showed off her skills at the Lawn Tennis Association's national Talent ID Finals.

King was among 113 youngsters invited to the event at the National Tennis Centre, in London, after progressing through county and regional Talent ID days.

She has also been selected for the Lawn Tennis Association's AEGON FutureStars programme.
It recognises and supports 395 of the best juniors in the country based on individual player's talent ID assessment or ranking.
