More success on tour for Ferguson

SPONDON junior Sam Ferguson reached the semi-finals in two Tennis Europe tournaments.

The 13-year-old took part in AEGON Junior International events in Edinburgh, Solihull and Bournemouth.

Ferguson did not drop a set on his way to the last four of the 14-and-under doubles in Edinburgh.

A singles quarter-final appearance followed in Solihull and he reached two semis in Bournemouth, beating Jay Clarke and Tiran Sanghera of Derbyshire in the doubles.

In the singles, he lost 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 to fellow Brit and top seed Daniel Little.

Ferguson and Bjorn Thomson lost 7-6 (8/6), 6-2 in the doubles to Portugal's Felipe Cunha Silva and Britain's Sacha Modica.

Ferguson will take part in the AEGON British Junior National Championships in Bournemouth next week.

Derbyshire's Hannah Davey, Millie Devey-Smith, Christian Mills, Clarke, Ceire Mullins, Harry Finney, Victoria Allen and Sanghera are also competing.
