Toby Perkins presents the cheque to Chesterfield club officials

Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins presented a cheque recently from Sport England to Chesterfield LTC to improve the clubs facilities. The grant of £35,000 is from Sport England's Inspired Facilities fund and will be used to renovate and refurbish the clubhouse at Chesterfield.

Mr Perkins was joined by representatives from Sport England at the cheque presentation, along with officials from Chesterfield LTC and the Lawn Tennis Association. Work has already started on the refurbishment at the club. The project involves the reconfiguration of the clubhouse including the creation of an open plan lounge area, new and improved improved reception and office accommodation and a coaches room. The refurbishment is due to be completed by the end of February.

Paul Hatton, Director of Tennis at Chesterfield commented "We are delighted to have been grant aided the Inspired Facilities funding by Sport England. The funding will allow us to create a modern and welcoming environment at the club and enhance the overall experience for everyone that uses our facilities".

Chesterfield is a clubmark accredited venue and is also a performance club. In addition, it is part of the LTA's beacon programme and provides a range of affordable tennis opportunities for all sections of the community.

Paul Sheard, LTA Tennis Development Manager for Derbyshire and Leicestershire commented "Chesterfield LTC is one of the strongest and most vibrant places to play tennis in the region. The upgrading of the clubhouse facilities is the final piece in the jigsaw following the development of indoor courts a number of years ago and will ensure that the club remains at the forefront of tennis providers in the East Midlands".
