More than 80 Derbyshire sports clubs will benefit from the first round of grants out of a new fund set up by the county council.
In October last year, the authority agreed to set aside £180,000 in its Sports Action Grant fund, with organisations encouraged to apply for up to £1,000 each.
Now the first round of pay-outs, worth a total of £67,530, has been announced.
Clubs getting the full £1,000 include Belper Meadows Tennis Club, to run taster courses at local primary schools.
The grants were confirmed by Councillor Carol Hart, cabinet member for policy and community safety, at a meeting yesterday.
A report written for the meeting by the council's public health department said the cash would "help people to achieve their potential through sport, encourage healthy and active lifestyles and encourage volunteering within sport".
In total, 110 organisations applied for money in the first round of grants, of which 83 were successful.
The authority had said that successful bids would aim to develop existing sports schemes or new projects which supported the priority of the council "to promote healthy and rewarding lifestyles".
Mrs Hart previously said that the decision to create the new pot of cash followed the launch of the council's Community Action Grant fund.
This enables individuals or groups to bid for up to £1,000 to help with schemes that benefit local communities.
The sports fund was set up after several early bids for this cash came from sports clubs or groups.
Two further rounds of funding are still to be announced.
