Coaching Derbyshire, through the Derbyshire Sport Trust, has successfully secured £8,500 through Awards for All to support the development of coaches who are not yet qualified.
Through this funding, we are able to financially support 30 coaches to gain the qualifications necessary to be deployed as an assistant coach. These are:
- Level 1 Sport Specific Coaching Qualification
- NGB or sports coach UK Safeguarding and Protecting Children certificate
- First Aid certificate
- Enhanced CRB Check
- Equity in your Coaching certificate
Each coach applying for this funding must be involved with a sports club in Derbyshire (including Derby City) and be committed to volunteering with the club for 30 hours between July – October 2012. A member of the club’s committee must act as a referee for the application. The sports club will also receive £50 towards on-going support for coaches within the club.
The support package is worth £300. This funding can be used to cover some or all of the costs incurred to attend courses/workshops, towards expenses incurred (e.g. travel/refreshments).
By applying and accepting the funding, the following conditions must be adhered to.
The Coach
- Must register on www.coachingderbyshire.co.uk
- Must be booked onto a Level 1 Sport Specific Course, which runs before 30 October 2012
- Must already have or complete the following before 30 October 2012
- Safeguarding and Protecting Children
- First Aid
- Equity in your Coaching
- Enhanced CRB Check
- Must provide evidence of spend, before 30 October 2012,
- Must complete 30 hours volunteering by 30 October 2012
The Club
- Must act as a referee for the coach – both in the initial application and in confirming the courses/workshops/volunteering has been completed
- Must support no more than 3 applications
- Will receive £300 reimbursement, on production of receipts to cover some or all of the costs incurred
- Will receive £50 (out of £300), to either put towards activities within the club
By adhering to the above, the coach (through the club) will also receive an £80 voucher towards the cost of further coach education. This must be spent by June 2013.
